Denver Public School Charter

The Academy of Urban Learning (AUL) is a 501c3, Denver Public Schools (DPS) charter high school founded by the Jared Polis Foundation and Urban Peak Denver.

In 2005, AUL’s founders recognized the need to create a small charter school in Denver that would address the needs of students experiencing the challenges of homelessness and other unstable living situations. Now in its ninth year of operation, AUL has exceeded its founder's expectations: AUL opened the 2005-06 school year with 47 students, and today has reached its student enrollment goal with 140 students enrolled. AUL has grown tremendously and established itself as a champion for students who have been unsuccessful in other learning environments and struggling with challenging conditions, graduating an increasing number of students each year.
